Understanding gravitational entropy of black holes: A new proposal via curvature invariants

چکیده
Partly motivated by the arrow of time problem in cosmology and Weyl curvature hypothesis formulated Roger Penrose, previous works literature have proposed---among other possibilities---the square as being underlying entropy density function black hole entropy, but proposal suffers from a few drawbacks. In this work, we propose new also based solely on curvature, adopting some combinations invariants. As an improvement find that our method for all static solutions four- five-dimensional general relativity regardless whether they are empty space or not. It should be possible to generalize higher dimensions. This allows us discuss physical interpretation which remains somewhat mysterious. Extending modified theories gravity, work suggests gravitational is manifestation different effects since need choose quantities.

Entropy of Constant Curvature Black Holes in General Relativity
We consider the thermodynamic properties of the constant curvature black hole solution recently found by Bañados. We show that it is possible to compute the entropy and the quasilocal thermodynamics of the spacetime using the Einstein-Hilbert action of General Relativity. The constant curvature black hole has some unusual properties which have not been seen in other black hole spacetimes. The e...
متن کاملConstant Curvature Black Holes
Constant curvature black holes are constructed by identifying points in anti-de Sitter space. In n dimensions, the resulting topology is <×S1, as opposed to the usual < ×Sn−2 Schwarzschild black hole, and the corresponding causal structure is displayed by a (n − 1)−dimensional picture, as opposed to the usual 2-dimensional Kruskal diagram. The five dimensional case, which can be embedded in a C...
متن کاملDetecting Massive Black Holes via Attometry: Gravitational Wave Astronomy Begins
In their fall 2015 observing run the two detectors of the Advanced Laser Interferometer GravitationalWave Observatory (Advanced LIGO) simultaneously observed transient gravitational-wave signals. The detected waveforms indicated the inspiral and merger of pairs of massive black holes more than 1 billion years ago. These discoveries marked the first direct detections of gravitational waves and t...
متن کاملEntanglement Entropy of Black Holes
The entanglement entropy is a fundamental quantity, which characterizes the correlations between sub-systems in a larger quantum-mechanical system. For two sub-systems separated by a surface the entanglement entropy is proportional to the area of the surface and depends on the UV cutoff, which regulates the short-distance correlations. The geometrical nature of entanglement-entropy calculation ...
متن کاملGravitational waves versus black holes
It is argued that, in order for the gravitational field to be propagated as a wave, it is necessary for it to satisfy a further set of field equations, in addition to those of Einstein and Hilbert, and these equations mean there is a preferred coordinate frame, called the Global Inertial Frame, giving rise to a unique metric . The implication is that a true gravitational field is not compatible...
